Change is the essence of life, Change or is left behind, To beat the competition one needs to change. These are just a few of the most used keywords which outline the key to success, to put it in simpler words they mean transformation in personal and professional life is what we all need to embrace to become successful professionals and people on the move. To change or transformation is easier said than done. The human psyche generally opposes change because we all want to tread the path already treaded for the simple reason that it needs no extra effort and we are familiar with it. We need to push ourselves to adopt change or to transform. This also means that we need to tread unfamiliar territory. To transform there needs to be a strong motivational factor.
The first thing we ask ourselves is why should I change? The greatest motivation is not constant and would vary from person to person. For some, it could be a success for oneself while others may do it for the happiness of loved ones. For some, it could be self-esteem while others could transform because it could be the need of the hour and there could be various other reasons as well.
India was known as the land of snake charmers, the land of sadhus, the land of the rope trick but not anymore. Today India is the land of Doctors, Engineers successful Business Entrepreneurs and also the second-largest user of Digital Platforms. This Digital transformation has not come overnight but yes it has come over the last four to five years. Being apolitical, the credit for India’s Digital transformation, undoubtedly goes to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He was the man who dreamt of a Digital India and motivated a billion people to be a part of the Digital transformation. Thanks to the huge fan following that he has and the grit and determination to see it happen the transformation process just skyrocketed.
Digital Transformation is the process of re-imaging and reimagining business in any field by using digital technologies to create new processes or modify the existing ones. It transcends traditional roles like sales, marketing, and customer services. As we move from paper to spreadsheets to smart applications for managing our business and day to day lives we can re-image and reimagine how we do business, how we engage our customers and how we live our lives with digital technology on our side.
Gathering or sharing information needed transacting physical documents- papers and binders, Xeroxes and faxes, etc. When computers went mainstream, most businesses started converting all of those ink laden paper records to digital computer files. This process of converting information from Analog to digital is called digitization.
Government of India and public service bodies were late entrants into the digital world, slow and hesitant to start off with but with Modi imposing the transformation with his motivation, magic, and momentum they have now embraced a digital transformation with gusto. e-Governance started to mature with Aadhaar and India Stack and the Government has finally incorporated Digital in its DNA. Launched in 2010, it is the ultimate example of IT technology joining hands with the government and its transformation to radically change public service delivery.
In 2015, the Government had laid out a clear vision for the digital transformation to provide good governance that would lead to inclusive growth, better jobs and access to services for all citizens. The Digital India transformation, with a slew of policy initiatives, products, and excellence centers, aims to fulfill this vision of making India truly Digital.
e-Governance through digital transformation has certainly come a long way since its inception, successful implementation of digital technologies has ensured, that the days of unending queues and unresponsive services are long gone. The next step is to move beyond providing services and become an instrument for good governance, transforming into a two-way channel of communication between the Government and its Citizens. The Government of India, by embracing Digital Transformation in totality has intentionally given its people what has put them in the elite group of countries who have taken to Digital Transformation. Thank God for giving us the wisdom to invent and grow, to discard and adapt because that is what change is all about, but a lot of us are still restrained to adopt new processes, new technology, new thought processes, and Digital Transformation. The earlier we realize the better it is that transformation in life and Digital transformation, in particular, is the spice of life.
